Much has been made of declining educational standards in the United States over the last half-century – and rightfully so. Our children are falling behind other nations in educational outcomes despite relatively high levels of spending on public education. Reading and math proficiency (or lack thereof) among our high schoolers is a major problem. However, I have recently been reminded that Americans are still able to recognize nonsense.
A person with “horse sense” has the ability to make sensible decisions and work through life’s challenges effectively. They are like horses in that they have the ability to navigate tricky terrain safely. Life experience has taught me that horse sense and high levels of formal education often do not reside together. Both my grandfathers were dead before I was born, but I am told my maternal grandpa frequently used the term “educated fools” to describe people with degrees who struggled to tie their own shoes.
Over the last four years, President Joe Biden and his supporters attempted to convince those of us with horse sense of the following:
1. You are able to “decide” whether you are a man or woman. Biology has nothing to do with it;
2. People under 18 years old have a constitutional right to surgically remove their genitals without parental consent, but should not be able to obtain a Tylenol from the school nurse without a note from a birthing person or dad;
3. Biological males should be able to compete in women’s sports and show up in the women’s locker room, with no adverse impact on women;
4. An unlimited and unmonitored flow of migrants coming across our nation’s southern border does not harm the U.S. economy, does not put pressure on our social services systems, and does not pose a risk to our safety and security;
5. Although overall prices are up 20% during Biden’s presidency, everything is okay now because the annualized inflation rate is down to only twice what it was when he became president;
6. Joe Biden became president following four years of peace and tranquility. After Biden took office, the Middle East erupted, and a war started in Europe. However, Biden’s weak foreign policy had nothing to do with it;
7. The best way to lower energy prices is to increase the cost of production by placing burdens and restrictions on the most efficient form of energy (fossil fuels), and requiring more and more of our energy to come from less efficient sources; and,
8. Donald Trump and the deplorables who voted for him are all fascists.
You know who doesn’t buy any of this? People with horse sense. That is why Donald Trump was elected in November, and his approval numbers – both personal and job approval – are relatively high. Trump has the right message, and he is the right messenger.
Trump has many hurdles to overcome. The leftists and entrenched bureaucrats won’t go down without a fight. They will battle in the halls of Congress, within the bureaucracy, and in the federal courts. However, this time around, it seems Trump is ready for the fight. I can only hope that the people in this country with horse sense can overcome the legions of elites that want us to accept horse manure.
This is 100% on target! When you read about all of the waste , and it is itemized, how can liberals complain that Musk shouldn’t be allowed to see these items, or tell us???
