Off the Cuff
June 8, 2021
During my radio career (1998 to 2009), I referred to our children as the “little Thompsons.” A few things have changed since then. One of them spends her time preventing bank fraud, and the other flies airplanes. We’ve come a long way since the days of diapers and sippy cups. The next time I come into contact with diapers and sippy cups it will be in my nursing home. Crap! Sometimes that “circle of life” Elton John sings about doesn’t sound so great. The good news is that so far I can control my bladder and drink out of a normal glass.
Both of the formerly little Thompsons have encouraged me to get on YouTube and do some videos. They believe this is a natural transition, given my penchant for radio. They mumbled something about microphones and talking incessantly.
I’m not going to lie; I was a bit hesitant at first. The problem with YouTube is that it is video. Radio is just audio. Video allows you to see that I am Uncle Fester’s long lost brother. Despite all the politically correct pablum, bald is not beautiful. You’ve never seen a bald guy anchoring the local news, have you? There’s a reason for that.
On a side note, half of you know who Uncle Fester is because you are old enough to remember. The other half of you are young enough to google “Uncle Fester.” Therefore, all of you can be in “the know.” What a country.
Anyway, click on the link below to see my first installment of “Off the Cuff.” I would sincerely appreciate some feedback. If you like the video, all you need to do is “like” this post. That will inspire me to polish my head and put a few more out there. If you don’t like my YouTube debut, keep it to yourself. I have a rather fragile psyche. Cheers!

Yay! I agree with the Thompson kids!
It's about time we get a bald guy doing the news.
OH, and you are skipping the BEST diaper and sippy cup season of grandbabies. You have a lot of fun in between your kids and your own diapers.
Thanks for your voice, Dave!
